OUR VOICES TRAVEL FAR AND WIDE
I am so happy to continue sharing my experiences with you! This time, I have some news that fills me with joy and gratitude. As some of you who follow me on social media may know, I competed for the Voice Arts Awards, SOVAS awards for the first time in 2020. Quite the moment! Before I go into my entry, I want to tell you a little bit about these awards in case you’ve never heard of them. It might even get you thinking about the chance to apply yourself! If you work hard, nothing is out of reach.
The SOVAS are like the Oscars for voice art.
Wow, reading this, it sounds so important… And indeed, it is! This annual competition recognizes voice actors, producers, creatives, sound engineers and others working in audiovisual production worldwide.
So as I mentioned, I entered the competition for 2020 and was nominated for the fabulous SOVAS in the following categories:
- Outstanding Dubbing, International – Motion Picture Film – Best Voiceover in the role of Kayla (played by Margot Robbie) in Bombshell.
- Outstanding Animation Character – TV or Film – Best Spanish Voiceover. Doc McStuffins, Disney Channel.
- Outstanding Promo – TV or Web – Best Spanish Voiceover. “Ellas dicen”, National Geographic Channel.
First Argentine woman to win this award
And how about this: I won the prize for Outstanding Dubbing!
I am the first Argentine woman to win this international prize and building a name for Argentine voice actors is something that fills me with pride.
It’s valuable recognition for me as a person and as a professional and was quite emotional. Held during one of the tougher moments of the pandemic, the marvelous gala event reminded me that we can stay united, share our experiences, build new connections and still be in touch with the world while protecting ourselves and others, wherever we happen to be.
And on the topic of the pandemic: this year I have also been nominated for a SOVAS in the category:
Outstanding PSA – Radio – Best Spanish Voiceover (American Heart Association)
…with a message that discusses the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccine. This was a job that really made me feel engaged, allowing me to add my grain of salt to encourage self-protection and patience during these difficult times.
I’ll come back to this nomination in a minute because it was truly a milestone in my career. Working for National Geographic is a challenge I take on with pride, not only because I am the first female voice actor for Latin America but also because I share the core idea of the brand’s ideology: the need to protect our planet and draw attention to critical social issues. So with no further ado, I am thrilled to announce my nomination for the SOVAS award for:
Outstanding Promo – TV or Web – Best Spanish Voiceover (Nat Geo, “Día de la Tierra”—check out the spot on my Instagram).
The gala event will be held at the Guggenheim and I will be there alongside colleagues whom I adore and admire to celebrate our profession. Proud to have been nominated yet again, I will be there representing Argentina with my best smile, and I promise to share the action on social media. Pushing forward to make more dreams come true!

I hope to have more opportunities to represent my country, using my voice to cross borders.
I am so excited. New York, here we come!
